Fillings, Crowns, and Fixed Bridgework

We provide restorative dental care from single fillings to complex reconstruction cases. We offer the range of approved filling materials, including composites and all-ceramic restorations. We try to use the most appropriate product for a given situation, to achieve the best comfort, durability, and esthetics, taking into account patients’ individual preferences. We work with top notch local dental labs to achieve the best possible cosmetic results.

Cosmetic Dentistry

We offer cosmetic procedures ranging from individual restorations and whitening products to extensive smile “make-overs,” including porcelain veneers and crowns. When needed, we collaborate with excellent local periodontists and orthodontists for optimal results. However, we do not push cosmetic procedures at patients. We believe it is up to each patient to decide whether they are satisfied with the appearance of his or her smile, and to decide what he or she would like to do about it. We encourage patients who have concerns about their appearance or questions about possible treatment options to bring them to our attention, and we will do our best to assess each individual case and provide treatment options.

Preventive Care

We have a staff of experienced dental hygienists. In addition to regular dental cleanings, we offer non-surgical periodontal care. For more complex periodontal needs, we work with local periodontal specialists. We also offer sealants for children and adolescents.

Removable and Complete Dentures

We have extensive experience with removable dentures and complete denture esthetics. We do most of the tooth arranging in the office to achieve the best possible cosmetic results. We encourage patients to tell us how they want their dentures to look, and we make sure patients are happy with the appearance before the dentures are finished.

Implant Dentistry

We offer implant options for replacement of single and multiple teeth, and for anchorage of removable complete and partial dentures. We generally do this in collaboration with local oral surgeons and periodontists.

Children

A child’s early dental experiences can create profound and lasting impressions. It is important that they be positive ones. Children are all different…some are very confident and some are more shy. We have treated children as young as three, and referred to pediatric dentists children as old as ten. We do not feel it is healthy to force dental treatment on a fearful child, because often these children will open up and be completely receptive to dental treatment in the kid-friendly environment of a pediatric dental office. We love treating children, but we take a go-slow approach with each child, and we will recommend referral if it appears to be in the child’s best interest.

Sedation

We offer nitrous oxide for adults and children, and oral conscious sedation for adults. If you feel you need these procedures would help make your dental treatment more comfortable, please let us know in advance.

Oral Medicine

We have more than 30 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases, including autoimmune diseases, unusual infections, allergic reactions, and tumors. We routinely perform biopsies when appropriate. When referral is necessary, such as with cancer, we work closely with oncologists and surgeons both locally, including Kaiser, and at UC San Francisco.

Cancer Survivors and Special Needs

We have particular experience with head and neck cancer patients, including people who will have or have had radiation treatment. We are also experienced in providing dental care for patients with complex medical conditions, who may require modifications in treatment planning or care delivery.
