PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS

AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ORAL MEDICINE

The American Academy of Oral Medicine website has a “Patients” tab with information on a number of different oral diseases. The “About Us” has a pull down menu with different selections that discuss the nature and history of Oral Medicine as a discipline within dentistry, and current and past leadership.

AMERICAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION

The American Dental Association has a large website with information for the public as well as the profession. Of particular interest may be the material found under the “Public Programs” tab. In addition, clicking the “Science/Research” tab will bring up an “Oral Health Topics” link where topics of interest such as fluoride and amalgam can be searched alphabetically.

The California Dental Association also has a large website with a “Public Resources” tab under which a number of topics of potential interest can be explored.

SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WITH ORAL AND HEAD AND NECK CANCER

This is an organization that was developed by a cancer survivor to help other cancer survivors. In addition to the website, they publish a newsletter with excellent articles contributed by noted experts.
